Sector Outlook: Business and Professional Services
Business and professional services remains broad and diverse, with certain segments attracting more attention than others – this year is no exception.
Our business services team has been exceptionally busy, particularly in response to sustained interest in environmental services. While the sustainability consulting market may not be experiencing the explosive growth seen three or four years ago, major investment initiatives such as AMP8 spending plans in the water sector, combined with ongoing public and regulatory pressure, mean there is still significant work being done.
Market fragmentation also continues to drive interest in professional services, especially on the buy-and-build front where robust platform strategies are essential. Armstrong’s work on Contollo stands out as a prime example – a business that has executed its acquisition strategy very well since inception. Beyond this, we are working with several similar platform transactions that are yet to be announced, demonstrating continued momentum in the space.
IP services within the broader legal services market has also remained active. Armstrong supported NLO in it’s acquisition by Ipsilon (backed by Waterland Capital), highlighting that specialist sub-sectors of broader trending markets remain attractive opportunities.
